Fayz Bearz has been a going concern in St. Albert, Alberta for almost four years. The ‘word of mouth’ and ‘grape vine’ modes of communication have kept Fay very busy with requests for the wheat bag teddy bear. Keep in mind this is a WARM teddy bear!

The uniqueness of this bear is that it is made out of so many different fabrics. Several are made out of (faux) fun fur, fleece, chenille, cotton, jean fabric, soft textured polyesters, and more.
Some of the more unusual fabrics such as chesterfield material, leather, ultra suede, fine silk and real fur have passed over Fay’s sewing table in the dining room.

But her very favourite is the Minkee Blankee fabric, which ranges at approximately $29.00 to $32.00 per metre as the price for the fabric. The bear requires .7 metres of fabric, and the scarf requires .2 metres. This fabric is so nice and soft, and smooth to the touch.

She has made the bear to match children’s clothes, fancy chesterfields like you would match a cushion to a chesterfield, and she even had a request to make one for a small pup, who had a hard time sleeping at night. It had to be the same colours of the puppy, black and white per the owner’s wish. The warmth worked like magic.

A few months ago four bears went to members on a hockey team near Winnipeg, Manitoba. Fay inquired if they might just prefer the wheat bag, but they wanted the whole bear. As the story went, these big guys, (in their twenties and thirties), were using the heated bear for their poor aching knees after a vigorous game.

Five wheat bag teddy bears went to a senior’s residence in Paradise Hills, Saskatchewan. They were given as gifts, and graciously received.

Many are ordered as gifts for baby showers. Fay describes the gift as very suitable for the newborn baby right through to the very senior grandparent or friend on your list.
